Fly Fishing Thoughts
Waiting out winter

The days are beginning to lighten up and I can feel the turn of summer on its way. This weekend passed us into spring and with it, a few above 0 days... I tend to spend a lot of time in the winter months looking at other people’s web sites, wishing I was fishing. Sometimes a Lewis Armstrong Bing Crosby duet plays in my mind and I think about putting the sign up, Gone Fishing, Instead of Wishing... then each year, as I begin to feel there is little hope left for good weather to arrive- in blows warm air, probably borrowed from Michigan or New York, either way, it is a welcome time in my life each year...

The sun begins to peer through the clouds, the sky helps me to remember that it is blue (well above and beyond those grey skies of winter), and the thoughts of casting that were at one time, seeded in winter dreams, begin to grow. As they take root, my patients to get out on that first sunny river day shortens, and my thoughts begin to focus on how this year, I am going to improve this part, or maybe that part of my fly fishing...

Good think my birthday is in may... I tend to request a few small gadgets to help me along the path to fly fishing Ontario and usually get to play with them right at the point of OPEN SEASON...

This year, I hope to improve a few things... my rod, reel, waders and boots, but at the same time, and more importantly, I will work on improving my approach for the hunt. I will slow things down a bit, work on my rhythm and finally try to plan a few more full days of fly fishing with the ones I love... my Connie and our friends... usually through camping...

You see, love is what you leave with in this life, love of all things. This world, the people, and our significant other yet nothing material... so we will set off with experiences, memories and peace...
